01Measure what slows the page
Monthly plans
Speed work uses the support hours in your monthly plan, so choose the plan that matches how much your site needs.
Monthly price in Canadian dollars, plus applicable tax; monitoring is part of all four plans. More about website maintenance.
Overview
Slow websites lose people quietly. A visitor on a phone, perhaps on a patchy rural connection or a crowded transit line, waits a few seconds, gives up and taps the next result. Speed also feeds into how Google judges page experience through its Core Web Vitals, so a sluggish site can be held back in search as well. Website speed optimization is a matter of finding out exactly what eats the seconds and stripping those delays out in turn. The usual culprits are familiar: oversized images, too many plugins, scripts that block the page from drawing, budget hosting and themes loaded with features nobody uses.
We start by measuring rather than guessing. Lab tests such as Lighthouse and PageSpeed Insights show what happens on a simulated phone, while field data from real Chrome users, where your site has enough traffic, shows how actual visitors experience it. We focus on the three Core Web Vitals: Largest Contentful Paint for when the main content becomes visible, Interaction to Next Paint for the delay between a tap and a visible response, and Cumulative Layout Shift for how stable the layout stays while loading. Each slow page is traced to specific causes, so the fixes target real problems instead of generic tips.
Fixes usually combine several layers. Images are resized and converted to modern formats, unused CSS and JavaScript are trimmed or deferred, fonts are loaded more efficiently and caching is set up at the server and browser level. Sometimes a heavy plugin needs replacing, and sometimes the hosting itself is the bottleneck. After each round of changes we test again and compare against the original numbers. Speed work is handled through our monthly support plans, using the support hours each plan includes, so the site stays fast instead of slipping again. We never promise a particular score, since tests vary from run to run.

What's included
Details vary from one business to the next, yet each project covers the points listed here. Extras are quoted in writing before any work on them begins.
Who it suits
Owner-operators, expanding companies and established Canadian firms begin at the same point: understanding how their buyers look, compare and choose.
Photographers, designers and builders often upload large photos that weigh pages down far more than necessary.
Product grids, filters and checkout scripts slow stores down, and every delay at checkout risks an abandoned cart.
Years of added plugins and an outdated theme leave many older sites carrying code they no longer use.
If Search Console flags URLs as poor or needing improvement, the report already shows where to start.
How it works
Key pages are tested on mobile and desktop, and field data is checked where it exists.
Each slow metric is traced to the images, scripts, plugins or server settings behind it.
Changes are made on a staging copy where possible, then moved to the live site.
Pages are measured again and the results compared with the starting benchmark.
Why us
Fast templates have been part of how we build since 2011, so we know which choices slow a site down.
Every change is checked against the starting benchmark, so you can see what actually improved.
Test scores vary between runs, so we report real changes rather than guaranteeing a number.
A care plan from $69 a month keeps updates and checks running so the site does not slow down again.

Core Web Vitals are a trio of metrics that Google relies on when assessing page experience. Largest Contentful Paint records when the main content becomes visible, Interaction to Next Paint captures the lag between a click or tap and the screen updating, and Cumulative Layout Shift tracks how much elements move as the page loads. Search Console shows them for real visitors once a site has enough traffic.
Testing tools imitate a phone or computer on a simulated connection, so tiny shifts in server response time, third-party scripts or the test location nudge every result. For that reason we run tests repeatedly and follow the trend instead of trusting one figure. Data gathered from real visitors, when Google has enough of it, offers a steadier view of actual experience.
Page experience is one of many signals Google considers, and relevance and content quality still matter far more. A faster site can help at the margins and tends to keep visitors from leaving early, which improves enquiries regardless of rankings. We treat speed as part of a healthy site rather than a guaranteed route to higher positions.
Usually it can be made noticeably quicker, though builders such as Elementor or Divi add weight that a hand-coded theme does not. Trimming unused widgets, optimizing images, improving caching and loading assets only where needed tends to help a great deal. If the builder itself remains the main bottleneck, we set out the pros and cons of rebuilding on something lighter.
Speed work is included in our monthly support plans and uses the plan's support hours: Basic is $69 a month for 2 hours, Gold is $490 for 20 hours and Unlimited is $1,500 for 50 hours. A site slowed mainly by oversized images needs far less time than one with a heavy theme, dozens of plugins and slow hosting, so we suggest a plan after a first look at the site.
Not always. Many slow sites improve substantially through image, code and caching work alone. Hosting becomes the issue when the server responds slowly even before the page starts loading, which shows up as a long time to first byte in testing. If that is the case, we will explain it and can move the site onto managed hosting as part of the project.
