When is custom code a better choice than WordPress?

WordPress is excellent for content-led sites and stretches further than people expect, but bolting app features onto it can grow costly. We look a few years ahead and recommend whichever option will be cheaper to build and keep running.
Can our website talk to software we already use?

We read their documentation and test access before quoting, which tells us whether real-time syncing, a nightly transfer or a lighter webhook approach will work. Should a link turn out to be impossible, you hear about it before paying for anything.
Who owns the application once it is finished?

Your organization does. Once the final invoice is settled, all of it is yours: source code, database and content. We stick to mainstream technology and leave comments throughout, so a different programmer could step in without guessing how things work. Many clients find it convenient to keep us as their host and support team, but nothing obliges them to, and we will hand over a full set of files whenever asked.

Bigger applications get their own written quote after the requirements document is finished. Large projects are split into phases, each with a defined result and a separate price, so you sign off on one stage before the next begins and can change priorities along the way.
